Hello!
No, there is no thermocouple on the top heater.

The top heater is controlled by Altec PC410 controller. In this controller are special "PID (Proportional–Integral–Derivative)" settings, which are set by the factory of rework machine.
The temperature of the top heater depends on this settings, which are specially tuned for each type of top heater.

You can access to these settings by holding the PAR/SET button for cca 4 seconds. Press the same button to switch between the individual settings.
I suggest you to write down each setting before you change anything.

Yes, You are right but the PID algorithm it is not directly related with the temperature of the upper heater. It is with a thermocouple and selected profile. If ramp parameter rise, the controller turns ON the upper heater with 100% of power so it`s become red hot. If there would be a thermocouple in the upper heater it would warm up to the set temperature in Hb parameter of a PC410. Am I wrong?

The top heater is controlled according to the PID settings, temperature detected by the main thermocouple and of course the set profile.
The PID settings are tuned according to the expected temperature of the PCB board, which is detected by the main thermocouple.

Yes. but without thermocouple in the top heater it operates always with 100% of power. It is unsafe for a chip.

So how to connect a thermocouple for UH (Uppper heater) control?

Actually not.
It runs at 100% of power, until the temperature detected by main thermocouple (PV value) rises close to the target temperature (SV value). When this happens, the PC410 disables the upper heater and controls it with short pulses only to maintain the target temperature.

OK, You convincent me that the solution can work properly but the Hb parameter is bullshit on this machine.
