Hi

I have a PS4 Slim (SAF-004) that does not display anything, no signal. It powers on with blue LED and you can hear the disk drive spin and fans.

The HDMI port looks good from the outside, and on the board the pins all look solid. The filters are all tested good, and i have replaced the MN864729 HDMI encoder IC.

But still there is no display. Can anyone suggest where to check next?

Hello!

Set your multimeter to the diode test mode and measure the voltage drops to ground on pins 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, 12, 15, 16, 18, 19 of HDMI port. It's best to use a cut-off HDMI cable or a HDMI test board to perform the measurements.

Hi matic thanks for the help.

I usually do not work on consoles so have not got a HDMI port tester, i have ordered one and it should be here tomorrow (Saturday). I can then take the measurements you require.

However, i did measure the pins on the back of the HDMI port and if i have the pin numbering correct (see picture) then pin18 the 5v line is short measuring only 1.8ohms

Set your multimeter to the diode test mode and measure the voltage drops to ground on pins 3, 4, 7, 8, 10, 11, 15, 16, 18, 19, 24 of MN864729 chip.

The console does power on and disc drive can be heard, the LED stays like a pulsating Blue.

Reball the APU chip.

I concluded it was a BLOD, but i do not have equipment to perform a reflow or reball of the APU. Thanks for your help.
