#1 HP Pavilion 15-EH (DAG7HAMB8I0) No Wi-Fi after liquid damage

Hello

I have a HP Pavilion 15-EH board number DAG7HAMB8I0. I receive the laptop in a no power state after suffering from liquid damage, i have cleaned the board and now the board does power on and function, charging ok etc. But it does not see the Wi-Fi card, it is not recognized at all, i have tried 3 different cards and none are detected. Drivers have been installed but nothing is showing up in device manager. I have attached photo of top and bottom side of the board near the Wi-Fi card slot.

Can anybody help with next steps to find the fault?

Thank You

Hello!

Your pictures aren't very clear, so it's hard to see if it's something damaged/corroded or not.

Measure the voltages to ground on pins 2, 52 of WLAN card connector CN4100, when the machine is turned on.

Hi matic

pin2 measures 3.3v and pin52 measures 3.3v however i cant measure 3.3v on the pin higher up inside the card slot, the pin appears to be sunken in,
heres a picture, i have tried to scrape the pin out that has made it look worse than it initially was,

Why don't you just clean such corrosion with IPA using soft tootbrush? For any organic dirt (like liquids containing sugar, beer etc.) you should first use window cleanser and after cleaning all the dirt out brush it again using IPA (to remove all the remaining detergent).

Hi, I have already cleaned the area from any corrosion and the pins of the wi-fi slot look clean, but pin 52 does look indented/sunken and might not be making contact with the wi-fi card when it is inserted.

So the only reliable solution is to replace the WLAN card connector.
You may find a suitable replacement connector on some scrap board.

I found an identical Wi-Fi card slot from a Pavilion 14-CE and swapped it and the Wi-Fi is now working fine.

Thanks for your input.
